It’s always a difficult decision to pick the track of the summer, but this one has a lot of potential in my books. Wätermat & MOGUAI join forces, two very different kind of producers. Deep house meets big room and progressive house; the result: ‘Portland’. Premiered by Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 more than a month ago, this mammoth of a track is something we’re desperately waiting for.

The track revolves on a simple yet mind-controlling melody, supported by a uniquely crafted synth which becomes its primal element. Wätermat’s usual structure and style is evident here, however we have sharper kicks and a punchier bass-line which suggests MOGUAI’s hand at play. Angelic vocals from an unaccredited singer drive the verse… seriously, why do artists always do this?! Even just the preview is something you’re going to have on loop, the unlikely duo have created a masterpiece in ‘Portland’.

An official release date of 14th August has finally been confirmed and the track will be out via Spinnin’ Records. I personally predict a similar response to Wätermat’s ‘Bullit‘ from last summer, this track has everything a hit these days encompasses.
