Billboard Hot 100 Launches First Ever Music Festival

Home Uncategorized Billboard Hot 100 Launches First Ever Music Festival

In 1958 Billboard Magazine started compiling a weekly list of the most played singles in the USA.

57 years later they are now a reputable source of news regarding all things music, and have expanded their chart to include a Billboard 200. They even have a section entirely dedicated to dance on their website, a reflection of the influence that the genre has started to generate in the last few years.

The music giants have now decided the time is right to introduce their very own festival onto the scene and it has been aptly named: Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival – let’s be honest, originality isn’t required for this one.

Most of the line up has understandably been sourced from the world of pop, including artists such as: The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Jason Derulo and Little Mix.

However a notable number of names from the electronic and dance community are featured on the list; Axwell^Ingrosso, Kygo, The Chainsmokers, Matoma, Michael Brun, Michael Woods and Party Thieves are all booked to perform at the debut festival. Skrillex, has secured himself a headline spot along with Justin Bieber, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Diplo makes an appearance at some point during either of their sets.

While the festival won’t be your cup of tea if you’re an electronic purist, the folks at Billboard have amalgamated a fantastic line up, an accurate representation of what is ruling the main stream at the moment. It takes place on August 22/23 at Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre, NY.

Tickets can be purchased from Billboard.com.
