The Dutch label began from humble beginnings in 1999. Now with over 10 million subscribers on YouTube, and over 5.5 Billion streams, it’s difficult to call them small anymore.

Having just been declared ‘Best Indie Label’ at the 2015 Promo Only Summer Sessions Awards ceremony in Atlantic City, the label beat competitors Astralwerks, Ultra, Dim Mak and Armada to take the crown.

The ceremony is part of Promo Only Promotions Summer Sessions gathering for the music industry, held across 3 days. With the winners announced at the end, several awards are handed out to artists, radio stations and label executives. With voting coming from hundreds of US music industry professionals, the awards aim to recognize everyone involved in music and promotion.

“It’s a huge honor for us to receive this award”, says Spinnin’ Records promoter Cees van der Zwan, who received the award tonight. “Especially since it comes from professionals in the US industry, which for us, as a European label, always was more difficult to enter. This prize is a reward for all the work we’ve done and acknowledges we’re on the right track.”

Spinnin’ Records is largely considered the worlds biggest, independent, dance label in the world. Driven by it’s massive output of records by artists such as Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens and Tiësto as well as the likes of upcoming DJ’s like Sam Feldt and Quintino. The Dutch label’s strong online dominance, with a significant emphasis on social media promotion has helped it access the younger generation and its following. Reflected in it winning an official Diamond Award from YouTube, for reaching the 10 million subscribers mark. Not a bad effort for an independent label.

Which begs the question, what will Spinnin’ Records achieve and bring to the industry in the next 15 years?
