Set to embark on his first ever tour of India Skrillex in October, the man of the moment recently sat down with the Economic Times to discuss his upcoming tour, his ever increasing Indian fan base and his every expanding signature sound.

Skrillex explained his excitement for his first experience of India, and talked about his interest in Indian culture and his fan base there.

So excited! My hands are extended fully. Can’t wait to meet all my fans. I am, actually. My socials go off so much in India and Bollywood is something I’ve been a fan of for a long time.Seeing guys like Yo Yo Honey Singh taking dubstep and making it Bollywood-influenced is really exciting.

The grammy-award-winning producer and DJ also talked about what his Indian fans can expect when he plays there.

I’m always a very spur-of-the-moment type of guy when it comes to what I want to play, so I’m sure I’m going to get influenced by my surroundings. That apart, I want to experience, eat, see and do as much as I can.

Skrillex summed up what he believes has shaped his signature sound, and reveals the edge that has kept him in front of the EDM curve.

My sound is a collage of my travels and experiences. That’s the best way to describe it. I’ve been exposed to so many different types of music and travelled for so many years -I think that’s what makes me who I am artistically . I’ve never settled and I’ve never had a destination; it’s always a journey for me.

Talking about the future of EDM, Skrillex discusses why he’s not worried it’s going to go away any time soon.

EDM is basically just a platform for making music; it’s not a genre. People said it was going away a couple of years ago. When kids stop using computers then I think electronic music will go away , but I don’t think that’s going to happen any time soon. You get inspired by a tool because it gets you from point A to point B. And that’s what electronic music is.
