Gorillaz announce 2016 return, describe sources of inspiration
To much of our excitement, there had been an air of hearsay about the regrouping of Gorillaz since early this year. After 3 months, Jamie Hewlett, has finally brought us the news we always wanted to receive. The Gorillaz will be back in 2016.
After a 5 year hiatus since ‘Plastic Beach’ in 2010, the sketcher and animator revealed to DIY Magazine that the duo are in a secret process of creating their latest undertaking. He also commented on the albums progress –
“I don’t want to say too much about it, but I’m at that phase of experimentation. What I try not to do when I’m working in this creative period, the cooking of the mess, is go to other peoples’ exhibitions and look at other peoples’ work. I close my eyes, and don’t want to know what anyone else is doing. Doing that has kind of ruined the creative process for me in the past, and I don’t want to let that happen again.”
We hope the time off has allowed the English electronic band to come up with some fresh ideas to take the world by storm.
