Kygo strikes gold, breaks Spotify record by becoming the fastest artist to gross a billion views

It’s been an explosive year filled with milestones for Norwegian superstar, Kygo. The tropical house prodigy has taken over nations with his uniquely crafted melodies and synths; breaking numerous records in the process. Kygo’s releases this year saw him bag number one spots, perform at the Nobel Peace Prize concert, announce his debut album and even confirm a 2016 worldwide tour.

Now, the wonder-kid has officially taken over the Spotify market by becoming the fastest ever artist to gross a billion views. You heard that right. Kygo’s original productions, ‘Stole The Show’ and ‘Firestone’ have amassed over 600 million plays on Spotify alone. This along with his playlists, singles and remixes have boosted him to the 1 billion mark; Kygo was elated by the news:

“Reaching this milestone in such a short period of time is really incredible and I’d like to say thank you to each and every person who streamed one of my songs this past year. I’m so happy people have enjoyed listening to my tracks and I can’t wait to share my album with you all early next year.”
