3lackout isn’t your usual DJ/Producer. Hailing from New Jersey, USA, Robert Hilzen is only 20 years old, but carries 5 years disk jockeying experience with him already. Having had a musical background including the drums, his transition to the electronic dance music scene at 15 is one he’s never looked back on.

What makes 3lackout distinctive however is not just his musical productions, but also his success away from the decks. Also a Division 1 swimming athlete and full-time student of a hospitality/management major, to say it is an impressive balancing act to of produced 4 remixes, 1 mix and 1 original in the past year, is an understatement to say the least.

With his remix of Galantis’ monster hit “Runaway (U & I)” being played in over 60 countries, and 3lackout garnering over 2,000 downloads in a month on Soundcloud, it is fair to say the young American is on the rise. He’s also remixed the likes of Kaskade’s “Disarm You” into something truly alternative and re-imagined – a credit to his visionary approach.

3lackout’s latest work has seen him take on Volt & State’s “Sandcastles”. Having been one of Nicky Romero’s favourite productions from his Protocol Recordings in 2015, it was always going to be a tough task to rival the original. While maintaining the defining vocals, the instrumental sequence see’s itself largely redone to a more a raw and staggered format. Adding additional layers of instruments, and strung out chordal melodies, the track transforms from a peak-time fulfiller to a building, energizing synthy concoction.

Extending out the magic to a rich 5 minutes and 30 seconds, 3lackout has certainly does his effort and talent justice with his latest remix. And better still, it comes as a generous Free Download. So be sure to grab your copy today!
