Celebrating 5 years of Above and Beyond’s “Sun and Moon”

Home Uncategorized Celebrating 5 years of Above and Beyond’s “Sun and Moon”

Five years ago, the ultimate break-up song came out.  Five years ago the song that pulls at heart strings, and everyone sings along too was released.

Now we celebrate, and reminisce on a love anthem that to this day continues to remind us to hold on to the love that we have found.

Sun and Moon is undoubtedly the song that really put Above and Beyond on the map.  The English progressive trance trio consisting of Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamaki are the masterminds behind their labels Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep.

This song was released about two months before the album it was on, Group Therapy released June of 2011.

Aside from an addictive, banging melody, the lyrics are what really drives the meaning of the song home.  Whether you’re single or in a relationship, there is a lyric everyone can relate to.

“I’m sorry baby. You were the sun and moon to me. I’ll never get over you. You’ll never get over me.” The lines you belt to the love that got away, or to the significant other you’re afraid to lose.

“We were in heaven, you and I. When I lay with you and close my eyes, our fingers touch the sky.” The lyrics to remind you of the invincibility you felt when laying in the arms of the one you care for.

No matter the mood, no matter the time, this is one song that you’ll blast time and time again.  The song that immediately heightens your emotions and gets your adrenaline pumping.

Get up, dance, sing and celebrate the timeless tune Sun and Moon.  Download on beatport or listen on spotify.
