David Guetta rakes in 1 million fans for UEFA 2016 theme song

We are no longer strangers to witnessing popular EDM trickle into global commercialization. From Avicii‘s Coca-Cola theme tune to now David Guetta‘s UEFA 2016 project, the link between music and football only seems to toughen with time passing.

In December 2015, the French music giant Guetta was named ambassador and mastermind behind UEFA EURO’s 2016 tournament anthem. To help create the backing sound for the track, Guetta called upon 1 million football fans to record a chant. He also extended a few words for those who contributed:

“Thanks a million to everyone who recorded with me. “It really is a collaboration like no other. I wanted to try something very special and put the fans at the heart of the UEFA EURO 2016 song. When I asked one million fans of music and football to record with me I didn’t know how they would respond but the support from all over the world has been amazing. Now I just have to finish the record.”

Titled ‘This One’s For You!‘ the song will serve as opening and closing items for every broadcasted match. To hear it for the first time, tune into the UEFA cup this spring.
