The Ibiza party calendar of season 2016

Home Uncategorized The Ibiza party calendar of season 2016

With June just around the corner, it is difficult to stay away from the feelings of summer, which come along with the thoughts of “How do I make it to every single event during this season?”. No doubt one of the hottest spots during the hot season is the one and only Ibiza. The party island has been the home of thousands of party goers for decades, as well as the host of residencies of the biggest DJs of the world.

Electronic music is no doubt one of the most influential genres in present days, offering some of the most spectacular shows from production point of view. How many times have asked ourselves “wow, how much bigger can it get?” Ibiza is certainly one of those places, where your question can be answered over and over again, with each consecutive season. The competition between clubs and performers are sure to present you with memorable experiences and will definitely give you one heck of a summer.

Many upcoming stars have jump-started their career playing alongside the big guns on the island. Who will be this year’s big findings? Let’s see what the leading clubs have in store.

Amnesia Ibiza

Club Amnesia has been a signature landmark on the Island since the 70s offering a wide range of electronic sub-genres such as techno, trance, breakbeat & house music. In 2016 it will continue to host residencies such as “Cocoon” by Sven Väth, “House of Madness” by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Toolroom Records takeover by Mark Knight, “Cream” events with guests in the face of well-established trance names like Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Aly & Fila, as well as house stars like Diplo, Steve Aoki & Knife Party, among others. Techno lovers will also be able to enjoy Marco Carola’s extravaganza “Music On” & Loco Dice’s “HYTE”. Amnesia, however, is yet again to be the home of Paris Hilton’s residency “Foam & Diamonds”, which continues to generate negativity across electronic dance music fans.

PACHA Ibiza

Glam club PACHA is another veteran on the Island’s clubbing scene and the home of the legendary “F*** Me I’m Famous” residency of David Guetta for many years now, and 2016 is no different. The surprise of the season, however, will be the appearance of Richie Hawtin at Solomun’s “+1” in August, but we are also in for a treat with others like Dubfire, Sven Väth, Âme & many others. Personal pick for me would be Maceo Plex’s Mosaic, a residency that started off yesterday and will continue on until September with a variety of guests such as Radio Slave, Adam Beyer, Len Faki & many others. For those who like the more commercial side of music, Martin Solveig & Bob Sinclair continue their well-established “Paris By Night” & “Music On” residencies, which have been a signature of Pacha for many years.

PRIVILEGE Ibiza

World’s biggest PRIVILEGE has been fading in the shadows of others for the past few seasons. Once the home of the biggest acts, it no longer holds the crowd, however it still manages to spice things up with a variety of genres, spread across multiple residencies. Marco Bailey’s own “Materia” will spice up the Sundays on the islands, opening up the season with a b2b set with Sam Paganini and inviting guests such as Sasha Carassi,  Alex Bau, Ambivalent, Black Asteroid, Carlo Lio, Luigi Madonna across the season. Swiss fury EDX will be taking over the Mondays after with his signature “No Xcuses”, alongside Nora En Pure.

Space Ibiza

The legendary Space at Ibiza will be closing a very important chapter in 2016, as this year marks the club’s final year in the way we know it, with it’s lease expiring at the end of the season. However the club has for sure put an effort in ensuring one of the strongest events program to finish it all off with class. The opening night will include more than 42 names, some of which are Booka Shade, Coyu, James Zabiela, Nick Curly, Sasha, Roger Sanchez, to name a few. Space has been the home of Carl Cox’s legendary residency for 15 years and will host 15 events in it’s closing season. Guests include some of the most renown & demanded acts such as “US House heroes Danny Tenaglia and Masters At Work, the illustrious Sasha, dance legends John Digweed, Fatboy Slim, Josh Wink and Jon Rundell, as well as Cadenza boss Luciano, in-demand Pan-Pot, Detroit heavyweight Carl Craig, Berlin-based Magda, Switzerland’s Deetron, Adam Beyer b2b with Ida Engberg, plus Italian giants Marco Carola and Joseph Capriati.” Those who like the darker side of techno can enjoy “Onyx Ibiza” nights, a collaboration with electronic bible Mixmag & guest DJ’s such as Josh Wink, Monika Kruse, Dave Clarke, Rebekah,Oxia, Alan Fitzpatrick, Fritz Kalkbrenner.

Ushuaïa Ibiza

Club Ushuaïa is the baby of the island, turning only 5 years old this year, however it is the fastest growing party institution and undoubtedly the home of the biggest artists in the big-room & festival scene. Aside of being the host of another one of Guetta’s shows – “BIG”, it includes more residencies than any other club. As announced earlier this year, Avicii will be retiring from his DJ career at the end of the year, and Ushuaïa will be the home of his last ever DJ residency on the party island (at least for now), however he is still to announce those, who will join him on decks throughout the season. One of the most talked-about shows in Ibiza is most definitely “Multiply” by young talent Martin Garrix, who will be taking over 7 consecutive weeks starting July 1st. Hardwell will be residing at Ushuaïa for a third consecutive year, presenting a brand new concept called “DNA”. The show is promised to offer a spectacular production and will run every Tuesday for nearly 2 months. The dutch phenomenon will also be showcasing some of the biggest names on his own label Revealed through 2 shows in June. World’s number one Trance DJ Armin van Buuren will also take over the legendary club with his signature “A State of Trance”, however this year the shows will only be two, as he is in the middle of an Armin Only world tour. Lineups are still to be announced, but dates are clear – July 29th and September 11th. Other residencies in the club include “Axwell \/ Ingrosso”, “Nervo Nation”, “Neon Future” by Steve Aoki, Oliver Heldens & Robin Schulz’s “Blue”, among others, making it one of those clubs you do not want to miss an event at.

Whilst we sit here and sob about the inability to teleport ourselves from one place to another, or split ourselves in parts to be able to be everywhere, Ibiza 2016 is sure setting off with a season to die for. Those who have already made their plans to visit – lucky you, but if you haven’t done so yet, make sure you go and secure some of those dates.
