Following the unfortunate attacks in Brussels last March, Belgium has clearly revamped its country’s overall security. This extra boost in safety is also being implemented by one of the world’s biggest and most renowned festivals, Tomorrowland. After the bombings, the festival’s management decided that any handbag or backpack will be searched thoroughly before an attendee enters the gates.
To provide even more protection, Tomorrowland has started planning on acquiring metal detector portals, which would be placed right at the entrance. Other festivals in Belgium, such as Rock Werchter, Graspop Metal Meeting, Pukkelpop, and the Dour Festival, are also looking to apply these detectors. The first installation will be held on May 16th at AC/DC’s concert at Werchter.
