Ethan Davis and Ray Nowak of the Los Angeles twosome Dropout, have completely redefined what it takes to mashup two tracks that, when standing alone, need no assistance. Their newest release “Never Hate U” renders the original foundation of songs “Never Be Like You” by Flume and Kai, and “I Hate U, I Love U” by Gnash and Olivia O’Brien, into of realm endless electronic possibility.

Taking the roll for lead vocals on the track, Anna Clendening really aids Dropout’s already powerful arrangement display. Her vocals supply the track a new, heart-rending energy which when blended with the overall production intensity, creates a medley of musical bliss. However, the core of the track is where the song delivers an inviting drop which will certainly keep listeners coming back.

It was kind of sporadic how it all happened. Ray and I always wanted to do some sort of mashup, cover thing. We LOVE Anna and have been wanting to do something with her for a while, so it just made sense.” Ethan says. “We have a lot of new music coming out and we wanted to get this tune out before the next single. We only had a few days to finish it but we’re still really happy with how it turned out.”
