It was 2015 when on a random day Eastern Europe got stroked with an unexpected announcement about a festival called Untold Festival. A festival that was never held before, featuring DJs of the likes of Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Avicii, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, among others. The surprise of many was undoubted, but as time went on, this fairy tale became a reality.

Just 2 years after Ultra positioned themselves in Europe, a new multi-genre electronic music festival emerged on the territory of Romania. A country very well known for hosting thousands of fans each year at events such as The Mission Dance Weekend, SunWaves & many others. Just after its first edition, the festival was awarded with the “Best Major European Festival” award, overcoming long-established giants such as Tomorrowland, Sziget, Exit Festival, to name a few.

Chapter 2 of Untold will be hosted on 4-7 August, 2016 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, the city appointed as the European Capital of Youth. The event will consist of 10 stages and it’s speculated to welcome even more guests than in 2015, when allegedly they exceeded 240 000 visitors. Guests include a vast range of European countries, as well as Asia and North America.

The 2016th edition welcomes the current top 5 DJ’s in the world – Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell, Tiesto, Armin van Buuren & Martin Garrix, alongside giants & legends such as Faithless, Afrojack, Parov Stellar, Nervo, Lost Frequencies, W&W, to name a few.

The festival is due to cover a wide spectrum of electronic genres, with some of the best names in the house, trance, drum & bass & techno scenes. Untold is racing for conquering the ladder as one of the most influential events in Eastern Europe, and the world.

The event is not just about the music, as it has been widely recognized by various organizations for the numerous initiatives to support tourism, youth & the community. In 2015 they initiated a campaign “Pay with Blood”, generating awareness for the scarcity of blood donation in Romania. Fans were able to donate blood in exchange for a free pass for the event, resulting in more than 1500 participants, able to save more than 3100 lives. The campaign earned the event a Silver Drum award at the renown International Festival of Creativity – Golden Drum.

In 2016 Untold became the international ambassador of Transylvania, the land of Dracula. From the 5th to the 19th of August, the festival bracelet will allow visitors to visit for free or at a discounted rate a series of major Romanian sights such as Bran Castle – home of Dracula, White Citadel, Corvin Castle, the Merry Cemetery, the Mocănița Steam Train, the Turda Salt Mines, and many other touristic attractions.Ā  The initiative aims at supporting Romanian tourism, by inviting guests to stay longer and explore the no. 1 must see destination of 2016, according to Lonely Planet.
