Known as one of Sweden’s most talented exports, Mikael Weermets has undoubtedly become a household name within the electronic music scene. His career has been nothing short of impressive with several music producers calling him ‘the next big thing’. Over the years, he has been able to receive multiple nominations and awards for his own productions as well as heavy support for his remixes for the likes of Avicii and David Guetta.

Aside from his brilliant work inside the studio, Weermets has also successfully established himself as a DJ in this industry. He has played at numerous clubs around the world, including a couple of DJ residencies, and has performed at some of the world’s most prominent music festivals such as this year’s Tomorrowland. In the midst of his rise, Weermets has even launched his very own imprint Free Music Recordings, which seeks to showcase the talents of young, up-and-coming artists across the globe.

For the label’s inaugural track, Weermets recently released Funk Machine’s edit of “Open Your Mind”, which is his collaboration with New York-based duo Digital Junkiez who have also achieved much success throughout their career. Having tracks like “Kongah” and “Phoenix” under their portfolio, Digital Junkiez have certainly been on a path toward stardom and they are only getting closer every record they drop.

Now with this new single, Weermets and Digital Junkiez should be able to propel their respective careers to even greater heights. Alongside the groovy sounds of Russian duo of Funk Machine, Free Music Recordings’ debut release effectively displays the prowess each involved producer possesses and certainly puts each and every one of them on the radar of fans and fellow producers alike.

Right from the get-go, the energy is strongly felt from the hard-hitting basslines and mind-boggling synths. Following the short buildup, the towering drop then enters, which clearly has the capability of electrifying a crowd of any magnitude. The track’s mid-progression perfectly bridges the two climatic sequences as well, with its vivacious robotic vocals and heart-pumping beats. Lastly, the final drop puts the listeners through a thrilling roller coaster ride and pounds our ears with its deafening bass, concluding this masterpiece in style.
