Watch: Sasha and Digweed reunite for mesmerizing live set

Before the global dance music boom, before “EDM” and all of the connotations which followed, before even Martin Garrix was born, there was Sasha & John Digweed. Known to many as the pioneers of true progressive house and some of the first-ever “superstar DJs” the world had ever known, they were widely remembered for their genre-defining sets and mix compilations such as the widely acclaimed Renaissance series that set a standard for mixing.

As the pair slowly began to focus on their solo careers in the late 00’s, dual sets became less frequent until a six-year hiatus was recently ended back in March with a surprise B2B set in London. Following the tremendous feedback the pair then announced (ironically on April Fool’s Day) that they would be getting back together for The Social Festival. The two legends played together on the main stage last night to a packed out crowd for one of the biggest reunions dance music has ever seen.

Thankfully, those not in attendance didn’t have to miss out on all of the action as John Digweed’s management took to his Facebook page to live stream just over 25 minutes of the B2B for fans to feast their ears on.

The pair played behind a massive screen setup and as usual blitzed through a dreamy selection of progressive tunes with a sprinkling of techno thrown in for good measure. As can be seen in the video the crowd were going absolutely wild and we can only hope this signals a new chapter as well as more tour dates for the pair of dance music legends. Amongst the tracklist was a number of IDs as well as the new cut from Kolsch entitled “Kir”. Tracks also appeared from the likes of Underworld and Sasha himself.
