Steve Aoki feat. Rich The Kid & ILoveMakonnen – How Else (David Guetta Remix)

Steve Aoki‘s “How Else,” the hip-hop-infused single with Rich The Kid and ILoveMakonnen released a few months ago, has taken on a second life through the huge number of unofficial remixes it has generated. However, officially being released, Kayzo and Late have tried their hand at flipping the single. The most recent to join them is no one less than French heavyweight David Guetta.

David Guetta is an elusive remixer, but his mint for quality in that particular department is seldom topped. Having recently proffered the key laden “This One’s For You”, the official EURO 2016 anthem and a stunning remix for Fat Joe’s “All The Way Up”, the revered French producer strikes up his A-game for his spin on Steve Aoki’s out-of-the-box production “How Else”.

Abandoning the trappy structure of the original, David Guetta fills his rendition with crushing bass and an off-kilter, modern house beat. Though the crunchy bass swells of the chorus are fussing enough to set off any dance floor, the remixer never lost sight of the poppy direction of the vocals, and the result is a true remix, one that understands its origins and interpolates them through a new and exciting context.
