With a musical career spanning over almost 20 years, André Tegeler otherwise known as MOGUAI has made an impact in all corners of the dance music genre. Kicking off 2016 with ‘Hold On’ featuring LA-based trio Cheat Codes, the track amassed over 17 million online streams and climbed up several online charts. Away from the studio, MOGUAI has played several prominent clubs and festivals including Tomorrowland, Electric Daisy Carnival and Pacha amongst many others.

With his dynamic and meticulous production skills at the forefront, MOGUAI’s ‘Pray For Rain’ kicks off with a prominent guitar chord progression and a smooth, emotive male vocal, on top of a twinkling synth melody. Soft percussive elements and a guitar riff play as an introduction to the track’s chorus – a plethora of warped synth and guitar melodies and a dominant bassline.

We Rave You had a chance to chat to MOGUAI about the inspiration behind the new track and the electronic music veteran explained:

“I heard the written song on a song writing camp in London and I felt immediately in love with the sound of the lyrics. I thought this song has a perfect vibe to combine it with my new style: emotional vintage deep electronic music. It was more the vibe of the song than the message.”

Dubbed as his personal masterpiece, ‘Pray For Rain’ is particularly special to the star:

I produced more than 100 remixes and singles in the past years, but none of them has such a great sound design as “Pray For Rain”. The production and mixdown is for me 110% on point.  When I produced the single I thought of different directions. I asked my self the questions: should it be more powerful, more underground or more mainstream? At the end it turned out into a just great piece of electronic music!”

With a career spanning decades, the German superstar’s sound has gone through an evolution while still remaining true to his roots. He explains:

“It has progressed a lot, but I never lost my roots. Back in the days I just played straight Techno, when Techno started to explode in Germany in the late 90’s. It was pretty common to play DJ sets for more than 5 to 6 hours. When you have to play for such a long time, you have to keep your set interesting, so that no one gets bored. I’m still thinking and playing with that approach; that’s why I always mix different genres in my sets and always have my eye on the crowd.”
