The Netherlands’ own Paul Mayson is currently one of the electronic music scene’s brightest upcoming producers. He first accumulated success with his collaboration with Los Angeles-based group Far East Movement titled “Pray”, which immediately propelled his career toward greater prominence. His momentum continued after the release of his astounding record “Want Me”, but to take the next step within this industry, Mayson signed with Don Diablo’s Hexagon record label to drop his single with John Quarles titled “Paralyzed”.
Making his massive return to Hexagon, Mayson showcases his unique indie house style once again with an impressive four-track ‘Run EP‘. Exclusively premiered here on We Rave You, two of the tracks that are featured in this extended play are his rejuvenating “Let Me Go” and his electropop tune “I’ll Come Back“. The Dutch talent is also set to perform during We Rave You’s upcoming Amsterdam Dance Event Sessions event on October 19th in which Mayson will likely test the crowd with these game-changing tunes.
Striving to stand out in the saturated scene of dance music, Paul Mayson shares some of his personal views and experiences:
aim was to really try to push boundaries with these records. The songs are a combination of electronic production and strong indie influences. Being able to fully utilise my background of both house music production as well as instrument playing is what made the whole process of this EP so exciting. It took quite a lot of months of writing sessions out here in Amsterdam as well as in LA where I’ve been recording a lot.
The process was all about doing something different and implementing a lot of live elements into the songs, as well as working with some talented featuring artists who have their roots in genres that are far away from electronic music. I’m also really excited to be playing the songs in my upcoming livesets, starting off with three shows during Amsterdam Dance Event including the We Rave You Ade Sessions Event.
Beginning with “Let Me Go”, the track features some old-school blues vibes from its riveting guitar riffs and striking male vocals. This record possesses an immense amount of energy from its persistent melodies and catchy beats, combined with some subtle synths and light drums. Moving to “I’ll Come Back”, this production consists of some dark guitar chords meshed impeccably alongside Edison Effect’s soothing vocals. With its astounding electropop elements, this track definitely provides an incredible auditory experience from start to finish.
“Let Me Go” and “I’ll Come Back” will be available on Hexagon HQ as part of Paul Mayson’s ‘Run EP’ on Friday. Be sure to check Mayson out during We Rave You’s ADE Sessions as well and you can purchase your ticket here.
