Afrojack performs with Fais at 2016 MTV EMA’s

Afrojack’s recent flurry of releases has continued to reap reward. Taking him to the 2016 MTV European Music Awards, his performance at the reputed event reflected his elevated status in the mainstream spotlight.

Growing up only 20 minutes away from the venue, Afrojack was introduced to the stage by the host, Bebe Rexha. Joined by childhood friend Fais, the global dance music icon played his recent hit tracks “Hey”, and his collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, “Gone”.

Reflective of his ever-evolving sound, the performance reflect his comments in an interview from back in September, saying:

“I’ve been doing EDM for such a long time and using hip-hop sounds,” he explained. “I thought, wait, let me make a hip-hop song using EDM sounds. It was a new challenge for me.”
