The Bingo Players will always hold a special place in electronic dance music heritage. Sadly now a solo act since the passing of Paul Bäumer three years ago, their back-catalogue from when it was a formidable duo is well worth a nostalgic reminiscence.

“Mode” one of the most defining tracks for the Bingo Players. Helping Maarten Hoogstraten and Paul Bäumer etch their own path under the spotlight, the Dutch disk-jockey’s and producers went on to some substantial feats and creations. Helping craft some of the most versatile tracks from the past ten years, the likes of “Cry (Just A Little)” and “Rattle” still receive an hugely energetic reception from the radio and dance floors alike.

Also coming in a vocal version titled “Don’t Blame The Party“, the voice of Heather Bright helped the Bingo Players go on to chart in Europe and has so far garnered over two million views on YouTube to date. Releasing at the time with remixes from Firebeatz and Qulinez, it was actually Jay Hardway’s remix that gained major traction in hind sight.

Sitting at six minutes in length, the instrumental piece held a tantalizing build up and dominant beat to help ignite the atmosphere when the synthy melody dropped. Infectious in sound, “Mode” was a very distinct track for its time, helping push the envelope of dance music’s capacity and thus reasoning why it has over four million views on YouTube.
