Beatport is renowned as the leading source of electronic dance music around the globe. The hub for new releases, carrying an extensive back catalogue of the genre, its results at the end of each year are always ones followed with keen interest by the industry’s stakeholders.

Filtering it through a voted list of the Top 10 Artist’s, Best Selling Tracks, and Best Selling Label’s for each sub-genre, there are certainly notable placings and some interesting findings. Below are three points of interest from each genre:

Tech House:
Hot Since 82 tops the Top 10 Artist’s, beating out the likes of Green Velvet, Kolsch and Sasha
Suara is the only label to feature twice in the Best-Selling Tracks list
– The included label continue to show the strength of the genre, even without its mainstream popularity

Techno:
Carl Cox is beaten to the top spot by Adam Beyer
Cirez D alias features in the Top Selling Tracks list with “In The Reds”
– The majority of the Best-Selling Tracks source from the voted Top 10 Artist’s, unlike Tech House

Trance:
Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond take out the No.1 and No.2 places respectively
A State of Trance and Armind, reflective the influence of Armin van Buuren on the sub-genre
– No artist features twice in the Best-Selling Tracks list

Drum & Bass:
Noisia beats out Netsky for the No.1 spot
– Four of the Best-Selling Tracks are remixes
– Four of the Best-Selling Tracks were released on labels not in the Top 10

Big Room:
– Top 5 is as follows: Hardwell, KSHMR, W&W, Martin Garrix, Axwell /\ Ingrosso
The Chainsmokers feature in the Top 10
Will Sparks and TJR both have one of the Best-Selling Tracks of 2016

Deep House:
Solomun beats out Joris Voorn and &Me for the top spot
AnjunaDeep and Aus Music are two of the Best Selling labels
– Only one Best Selling Track has a label in the Best Selling Label list

Electro House:
– Top 5 is as follows: Diplo, Laidback Luke, Dillon Francis, Jauz, Deorro
– Many Big Room ranked artists feature with Best-Selling Tracks, such as Hardwell, Tiesto, and KSHMR
Spinnin’ Records is the only label with two placings for Best-Selling Tracks

Progressive House:
Eric Prydz takes top honours, beating out Deadmau5 who sits in second place
Mau5trap does not feature in the Top 10 Best Selling Label list
– Sasha’s remix of RUFUS makes a surprise entry as a Best Selling Track

Future House:
Don Diablo tops Oliver Heldens in the voted Top 10 Artist’s
EDX has two of the top-selling tracks of 2016
Spinnin’ Deep and Spinnin’ Records both have two Top Selling Tracks

House:
Kink beats out the likes of Claptone, Disclosure, Duke Dumont and Armand van Helden
– Spinnin’ Deep makes another appearance in a Top Selling Label list
– Five remixes make up half of the Best-Selling Tracks

Indie Dance + Nu Disco:
Todd Terje takes the top spot
– Seven of the Best-Selling Tracks are modified (Remix, Rework, Edit)
– Six of the Best-Selling Tracks source from labels not in the Best Selling Label’s list
