Home Uncategorized Justice returns to Essential Mix after nine years

Justice are one of the most well-respected and talented groups in electronic music. Their debut 2007 Essential Mix is regarded as one of the best in recent memory and this weekend they finally return to the hallowed BBC Radio 1 decks after a nine-year wait.

The French duo just last month dropped their third studio album entitled ‘Woman‘ and were scheduled to air their Essential Mix back in November but had to delay it until later in the year due to other commitments which meant they could not finish the mix in time. However, the extended wait was well worth it as the mix is a complete masterclass in genuinely eclectic selection. As opposed to featuring some of the harder, more aggressive electro sounds the group are known for from their earlier years, it moves along at a much slower pace and features everything from rock to hip-hop as well as a few of Justice’s own cuts of course.

Everything from M83 to The Rolling Stones makes an appearance and it truly is an insight into the tastes of two geniuses. Had the mix been broadcast a few weeks earlier there’s a good chance it could well have made an appearance on the Essential Mix of the Year shortlist but unfortunately it missed the cut-off. Either way it is truly a remarkable mix.

You can listen to the mix on the BBC Radio 1 website.
