Detlef & Green Velvet – Bassick EP

Home Uncategorized Detlef & Green Velvet – Bassick EP

Green Velvet has been one of the most pioneering and forward thinking names in electronic music over the past 25 years. The Chicago born artist who’s real name is Curtis Jones has been at the forefront of the American dance scene for a very, very long time and has had game-changing releases under various aliases such as Cajmere. Back with a new EP release on his own Relief Records, the new 3 track release with Detlef is a full-on tech-house belter.

The EP opens with the track Alright, a vocal laiden, bass heavy groover of a track that combines a number of nice percussive with an oh-so infectious bassline. A long breakdown and build section causes a lot of tension before a drop section brings the groove back into full flow in a way that will keep dance floors alight. Issues brings back the classic Green-Velvet vocal work and again features that groovy tech-house styled bassline. Jack The Beat is perhaps the best tune on the release with 80s inspired percussions and sounds throughout as well as a mix of different rhythmic and bass elements being brought into the mix to bring together a full on house stomper.
