Controversial DJ & Producer Deadmau5 started his BBC Radio 1 residency last month in January, starting something he has never done before, a BBC Radio 1 residency. This means that Deadmau5 will showcase a two hour mix on the first Thursday of every month this year at 10pm. When asked about the residency at the time of the announcement that he’ll be doing this residency he said:

I am very excited to bring mau5trap and friends to BBC as part of the Radio 1 Residency. You can expect a selection of songs I’m playing out, songs from artists I like, songs from my label, songs not from my label… maybe even songs from me

You may have realised that Deadmau5 has incorporated a lot more techno style music into his live sets recently and has even created an alter ego, ‘testpilot‘ which will be the name he is under when performs his techno heavy performances. His first live set under testpilot will be at the Movement Music Festival in Detroit, Michigan where he will be headlining.

Back to the residency, Deadmau5 completed his second appearance of his residency last night, Thursday 2nd February. He kicked off his return by opening with Kölsch’s ‘Oma’ and then continued to show off his love for techno by adding artists such as Maceo Plex, Popof and Jeremy Olander into the mix.
