Flume – ‘Skin Companion II’ EP

Fresh off his Grammy win over the weekend, Australian prodigy Flume‘s rise to stardom has been nothing short of spectacular. Taking home the Best Dance/Electronic Album, the jubilation during his acceptance speech reflected the level of commitment and artistic consideration he applied to making the acclaimed album ‘Skin. The appraised album set Flume aside from his competitors with it’s futuristic synth work, and daring lyrics; and because of that, he’s set a personal bar for his music and fans around the world are patiently waiting to see what’s next. Well now the world is ready to find out, as he follows up this success with another four-track EP, with what is set to be the second instalment of a series of ‘Companion’ EPs.

This second follow-up to ‘Skin‘, aptly entitled ‘Skin Companion EP II’, sees the talented producer team up with Glass Animals and Moses Sumney, as well as the stand-out track featuring the renowned Pusha T. It’s not the first time he has hit the studio with hip-hop artists, however, this time he takes his music in a much more darker, bass-heavy direction with some intense lyrics combining with the dominant 808 kicks throughout ‘Enough‘. But showing his creativity and versatility once again, he returns to his established feel-good vibes in the EP’s three other tracks, consisting of atmospheric anthems and his signature glitchy synths. The mass appeal of Flume’s music means that this EP has both a mainstream and dance music appeal.

The contrast between some of the tracks will no doubt soundtrack the good (and maybe the bad) times ahead in the summer months, as the Australian proves once again that he can only go from strength to strength.

Check out the preview below of what is bound to be another Flume smash hit.
