Spring Awakening Music Festival offers remix competition to win performance slot

React Presents is offering an aspiring DJ a performance slot at this year’s edition of Spring Awakening Music Festival in Chicago by remixing Zhu‘s single ‘Nightcrawler.’ By submitting a remix online and soliciting votes from friends, family and fans, contestants can vie for the chance to appear on the SAMF alongside their favorite artists. In addition to exposure and the once-in-a-lifetime experience of playing for tens of thousands of screaming attendees, the winner also will receive three VIP passes to the three-day festival. Stems for Zhu’s dark and enticing track can be downloaded from the submission page, where listening and voting also takes place; the winner will be selected from a shortlist of the top ten entries. Entries for the competition can be submitted starting today, and can be submitted to be eligible for selection until May 22, 2017. SAMF considers talent to the ethos of the contest: “More than landing that superstar DJ booking, what gets us excited is discovering up-and-coming talent.”

Spring Awakening Music Festival has mounted a competition since its launch in 2012. While Chicago boasts many world-renowned festivals that attract global electronic talent, SAMF is the city’s only festival dedicated solely to the genre. Running from June 9-11 of this year, it will be hosted at Addams-Meddill Park for over 50,000 fans. Headliners from every subgenre dominate the lineup, with industry superstars such as Martin Garrix, Diplo, and Armin van Buuren playing over the three days—and, of course, contest-inspiration Zhu himself. Four stages per day will host fan favorites like Galantis, and even an entire stage dedicated to label Anjunabeats for trance artists. Three day passes, general admission and VIP, and single day tickets are available now on SAMF’s website.
