Last year was undeniably a highlight year for Grammy-nominated Joey Youngman who is better known through his commercial alias, Wolfgang Gartner. The American renowned producer released his chart topping sophomore album, “10 Ways To Seal Home Plate” at the top of 2016 and over a year later, he continues to feed fans with innovative new tunes.
“Borneo” is just Gartner’s second release of the new year following his single “Badboy Sound” in late February. While “Badboy Sound” brought back some of Gartner’s classic electro vibes that fans have been craving, Borneo takes a more experimental route as it incorporates elements from up-and-coming producer Aero Chord.
The collaboration comes as a bit of a surprise to some, but Gartner and Chord pull it off and deliver an interesting trap sound that has become a rarity in today’s commercial scene. While Gartner’s influence is not crystal clear in the collaboration, Aero Chord expands upon his unique percussion sound that he has utilized in his recent music. The track is Gartner’s first release through the independent label, Monstercat, and is home to Chord along with notable artists such as Bassnectar, Gareth Emery and NERVO.
