Dutch DJ and future house maestro Oliver Heldens has just premiered the very first episode for his new mixtape series, “Ibiza 77“. The series is said to be based on “timeless house-y Ibiza vibes” that are sure to get you in that summer feeling.
According to Heldens, the reasoning behind the ’77’ part is that he feels dance music took off starting in 1977 and wanted to pay homage to its birth. This series will allow for the new wave of electronic music fans to be introduced to older music that they may have not been otherwise exposed to.
He emphasizes that the featured music is considered “timeless” and shows fans exactly what to expect when visiting Ibiza. Heldens also states this is the type of music that has been the source of his inspiration as of late and many of his upcoming tracks will feature this type of sound.
The 37-minute mix features 11 songs from a plethora of artists including Oliver Heldens himself and his alter ego HI-LO, Junior Jack, Mark Knight, Riva Starr and many more. It is available for a free download here and based on the first episode, we are in store for an incredible summer while bringing back some nostalgic tunes from electronic music history.
