Calvin Harris is a producer who rarely under-delivers on his promises, so when he told fans that he was producing music that would “make your soul happy” and “feel incredible”, fan’s expectations were understandably high. And today the time has finally come for this new era of Calvin Harris music to be unveiled to the world, as his “Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1” album is unleashed. With multiple tracks already topping the charts, Harris has set the stage for what will undoubtedly become the summer playlist of 2017.

Fan favourites including “Slide” and “Heatstroke” have garnered massive success in the few months since their release, as the Scottish producer has been showcasing less of his staple house music signatures, and choosing in favour of a more down-tempo, tropical vibe. From the fresh rhythmic groove of “Rollin“, to the uplifting chorus of “Feels“, Harris’s new sound illustrates his impeccable production chops, and he has pulled in a stellar supporting cast to feature on his records. Whilst every featured artist is highly respected in their own right, Harris has joined forces with a roster of urban music hit makers and global pop stars, with stand out names include Snoop Dogg, John Legend, Future, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams.

He also teams up with fellow producer A-Trak, as they deliver “Prayers Up” alongside Travis Scott, a feel good anthem that is centred around the infectious bass line, bringing with it a new level of funk that is guaranteed to make you want to get up and dance. Refreshing and creative, every track on the album offers something unique and inviting. And whilst the majority of the album focuses on funky guitar rifts with a 70’s vibes, who knows if we will ever see Calvin return to his more renowned progressive and electro sound. One thing thats for sure is that “Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1” is bound to be one of the biggest albums of the year.
