John Digweed is without a doubt one of the biggest legends in dance music. With a career spanning over 20 years and skills behind the decks which many would regard as some of the best in the game, it’s safe to say that his endurance in the scene is very much well-deserved.

Digweed was invited back behind the hallowed Essential Mix decks for Radio 1 over the weekend, and as usual he didn’t disappoint. Having been a regular on for the Radio 1 platform throughout the ’90s and ’00s, it was a much long-awaited return to the mix show with his last appearance having been seven years ago back in 2010. Digweed also appeared alongside DJs such as Jackmaster & rising star Peggy Gou as part of a special joint broadcast from Glastonbury and EDC Las Vegas.

As usual, Digweed took us on a bit of a journey during his set which traversed the spectrum of progressive house and techno. Known for his progressive style, the mix weaves between melodies and emotions in usual fashion, and delivers some deep, dark grooves for your pleasure. Featuring tracks from the likes of Maceo Plex, Tale of Us, and Hot Since 82, this Essential Mix is surely hard to miss.
