Always one to get the party kick-started in style, EDM superstar Steve Aoki will perform at a huge football festival in Cardiff later tonight (Friday 2nd June) as part of the UEFA Champions League Final celebrations. The Neon Future DJ will play to a packed crowd at Cardiff Bay to celebrate a huge weekend for the city as they gear up to host the final of Europe’s biggest club football competition on Saturday.

The match, which will take place at the 75,000 seater Principality Stadium, will see Italian giants Juventus take on last year’s winners, Real Madrid. And in keeping with tradition of the Spanish club, Cardiff is set to lay on a huge Spanish street fiesta, fuelled with sangria and paella as the area is transformed into a giant fan zone before the tournament finale. Aoki, the popular electro DJ, will play a set at around 19.30 BST, after travelling by private jet, helicopter and boat to reach the destination.

Having become renowned for his crowd-surfing acrobatic stunts, Steve Aoki plays an average 300 shows a year across the world, and a Netflix film about his hectic lifestyle called “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead” was nominated in the documentary category at the Grammys earlier this year. The trend of DJs performing at showpiece football events continues following the decision from Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso to withdraw from their UEFA Europa League Final performance last week in light of the terror attacks in Manchester.
