Heldeep Records founder Oliver Heldens has returned with a funky house remix of British Funk and Acid Jazz band Jamiroquai‘s track, ‘Superfresh‘ from their new ‘Automation‘ album. The track is one of many excellent recent remixes from Oliver including his edit for American Singer/Songwriter Charlie Puth‘s track ‘Attention‘ and one for his alter-ego HI-LO‘s track ‘The Answer‘.
Heldens uses the same chord progressions from the original and adds a funky bassline while using his signature synths to give the track new a perspective. The original song has overdubbed vocals, and a funky pluck bass and 80’s inspired synths, However, Oli does not make use of these and maintains the “less is more” principle by simply taking the lead vocal, and completely reworking the song around it. The track is poised to make its way into warm-up DJ’s tracks around the world.
For those unfamiliar with Jamiroquai, the band formed in 1992 and have since released 8 studio albums. Their most successful album ‘A Funk Odyssey‘ (2001) topped numerous charts around the world and achieved platinum status in 5 different countries; including a 4x Platinum certification in Australia. The band also won a Grammy Award in 1998 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
