After reports of his failing health, a year long hiatus, and an unexpected retirement from live touring, fans had been eagerly awaiting waiting for signs of Avicii‘s rumoured return. Meeting the challenge head on, 2017 has been one extraordinary rollercoaster for Sweden’s golden boy. Having launched an all out assault on the charts with the release of AVĪCI (01) in August this year, the Swede further made up for lost time, taking over Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio, launching the first ever live edition of ‘Avicii FM‘ and hosting a remix competition for ‘Without You’.

For some artists, a year like the one Avicii’s been having may be more than enough reason to take a back seat. Fortunately for the droves of fans amassed by the 27-year-old, this certainly is not the case, with the release of a documentary entitled ‘True Stories’ just being announced. The cleverly titled film, inspired by his first album ‘True‘ and second album ‘Stories‘, gives some much-anticipated insight, into the life of one of dance music’s hardest working artists. After originally being scheduled for a release in 2016, The documentary directed by Levan Tsikurishvili, who had previously worked with Avicii on music videos for ‘Pure Grinding’ and ‘For a Better Day’, is now scheduled to take over international cinemas this Autumn.

The film takes an in-depth look at Avicii’s impressive rise to fame, his production process, and some of the highs and lows that make up the life of a world class performer. Viewers will further be entertained with 30 minutes of exclusive concert material, filmed during Avicii’s farewell performance at Ushuaia Beach Club in Ibiza.
