Dr. Shiver ft. Kazi – Something

The latest member of the Protocol Recordings family is an Italian producer by the name of Dr. Shiver, who enters in emphatic fashion with his scintillating debut on the label entitled ‘Something’. As he begins to make a name for himself in the dance music sphere, what’s interesting about Dr. Shiver is that he began his career in the classical spectrum, playing piano and hammond, where he worked with legendary musicians like BB King, Pharrell Williams, and Little Louie Vega. In 2015, he released his first official remix for “You Got the Love” with the Candi Staton’s original vocal from 1986, soaring to the Number Five on the UK charts, and since then he has gone from strength to strength with each release.

With its funky guitar riffs and complex melodies, he has meticulously crafted the track to sound unplugged and vintage, as if it was played live instead of electronically created. Combined perfectly with vocals that sound straight from a blues club courtesy of Kazi, Dr. Shiver showcases his ability to bring together nostalgic and modern influences.

The artist himself describes how:

“As a pianist and hammond player my origins are based in the blues, funky, soul and black music and in this tune you can really feel my musical background in every note, melody and chord progression.”
