With Tomorrowland and Mysteryland out of the way, all eyes are on Ultra Music Festival Miami, where 2018 will mark the iconic festival’s 20th anniversary. 1999 was the festival’s inaugural year when Paul van Dyk, Rabbit in the Moon and Armand van Helden headlined the festival, which saw 10,000 people walk through the turnstiles.
Ultra Miami has grown rapidly over the years. Initially attracting 10,000 fans to South Beach in 1999, the festival ballooned to bring in over 330,000 fans into Downtown Miami, over two weekends in 2013; a full 15 years later.
Miami aside, 2018 will be a momentous year for the Ultra franchise, after announcing expansions to 3 new countries earlier this year. While the inaugural Ultra events in India and China have passed, India will see Ultra again in Mumbai next year. Australian fans will also get their first taste of Ultra. While tickets have gone on sale for the Melbourne event, a lineup is yet to be announced.
