Last week the dance music industry once again descended upon Amsterdam, for the annual calendar highlight known as ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event). A key player since the inception of the event, Holland’s own Armin van Buuren once again treated fans to an array of exclusives, including a special marathon 14-hour edition of his incredibly popular ASOT radio show on the 19th of October. Armin van Buuren has become somewhat renowned for his extended sets, sporting a diverse and in-depth view into the complexities that make up the world of trance music.

While the 2-hour weekly show certainly showcases some of the most popular artists trance has to offer, Armin van Buuren’s taste within the genre seems to stretch quite a bit further than the show might be able to deliver, given the rate at which new music is released. The special 14-hour show delves deep into the unexplored territories of a genre that has found a special place in the hearts of so many fans from around the world.

Special guests for the benchmark show included Egypt’s Aly & Fila, Germany’s Cosmic Gate, South Africa’s Protoculture, and the UK’s Ben Gold and Ian Standerwick, who have become regular players on the highly successful show, proving that trance truly is a worldwide phenomenon, not to mention the fact that the episode has already racked up a mammoth 330,000 plus plays. Highlights from ASOT 836 include massive new tracks from the likes of Rodg, Patrick Baker, Gabriel & Dresden, Sub Teal, Alpha 9, Paul van Dyk, Peter Martijn Wijnia and Radion6, as well as a classic ‘service for dreamers’ in the form of Above & Beyond’s collaborative partnership with vocalist Justine Suissa, the massive Oceanlab – On A Good Day. So if you missed out on the epic experience, have no fear, you can relive the complete 14-hour trance extravaganza below.
