When you’re considered among the world’s top DJ’s, staying on top of your game is a task that comes with undeniable pressure, no matter how long you’ve been playing. Take that same pressure and add a reputation that precedes your every performance, now take it up a notch higher and perform alongside one of dance music’s most respected DJ’s. This was the exact scenario when two of Sweden’s biggest DJ’s took to the stage to take over BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix back in 2005. While Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso have since gone on to perform alongside fellow Swedish superstar, Axwell, as the world dominating trio Swedish House Mafia, 2005 showed the world exactly what Sweden had to offer.

While both Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso had done stellar work to build brands of their own, 2005’s legendary ‘Essential Mix’ undoubtedly put them in a whole new playing field. with Pete Tong calling them “Two of the year’s most exciting breakthrough DJ’s”. Hard to believe that the pair were ever less popular, considering that they’ve become dance music veterans at the age of 34.

To this day, the classic set stands apart as a favorite among followers across the globe. With tracks that have since become treasures for crate diggers and digital junkies alike, the pair made a perfect crossover between genres that weren’t quite as fused back then as they are now. Some highlights in the epic 2 hour journey includes tracks and remixes by the likes of  Erick Morillo & Harry Choo Choo Romero & Jose Nunez feat. Jessica Eve, Daft Punk, Ian Carey & Mochico Feat. Miss Bunty, MBG & SDS, Chemical Brothers and of course Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso themselves.
