Alesso was interviewed by Billboard Magazine ahead of the American Music Awards this year, discussing his creative process and sonic progression over the course of the year. Alesso brought out country superstars Florida Georgia Line and pop princess Hailee Steinfeld, along with guitarist watt for a sensational performance of their country pop smash single ‘Let Me Go‘.

Speaking with Billboard while rehearsing the performance, he told them about his shift from outright EDM to pop music:

“I used to just think about what will work on a dance floor at festival. Now, I try to put out a song that makes me really feel, that’s meant to come out through your headphones when you’re on your way to work”

He also revealed he is deliberating between just releasing single or issuing an entire album:

“I’m just trying to focus now on the next project and the project before, not try to think so ahead”

His current single ‘Is That For Me’ features Brazilian singer Anitta and has amassed 18 millions streams. The aforementioned ‘Let Me Go‘ garnered 100 millions streams, but he’s still quite excited about working with the Brazilian pop star:

“She’s the biggest pop star I think in the history of Brazil”
