Home Uncategorized Steve Aoki turns 40, considers giving up caking his fans

Just when there is plenty of reason for baking – and throwing – cakes, Steve Aoki has stated that he might give up caking fans at his shows altogether. Aoki, who turns 40 this Thursday, is known for his amazing cake-throwing abilities, but he is (again) considering to stop tossing cakes at visitors of his performances.  In a recent interview with Celebretainment this week, the American electrohouse DJ/producer shared his thoughts on whether he should quit his controversial caking act – or not.

It’s not the first time that Steve Aoki considers binning the cake, as he already stated it as a New Years resolution in January of 2015. At that time, Aoki decided to keep it exclusive for his headline shows and for only a few die hard fans.  Steve Aoki about his doubts:

“I still can’t help but ask myself… should I stop caking people? Will that stop the haters from hating? Stop giving the trolls more content to target me with? I even ask myself, are the cakes and the rafts taking away from the art of my culture, DJing? I’m sure many people feel that I am because things I do are not part of the norm.”

Whether he will give up the caking or not, it was also interesting to read that Steve Aoki travels around the world with an entire team of cake makers. The team consists of culinary experts who structure his cakes in such a way that they are of the ideal consistency for smashing: “the desired effect is explosive rather than edible,”  he explained jokingly. We are curious to Steve Aoki’s final decision on the caking matter, but in the meantime – and to celebrate his 40th birthday in style – enjoy two of Steve’s most epic cake-throws here below.
