Bicep have had without a doubt the biggest year of their career so far in 2017. After testing an incredible live show at select dates last year, the Belfast boys took to the road with a relentless touring schedule that seen them play across the world with their selection of synths and drum machines. And of course how could we not mention their ground-breaking self-titled debut album which came out back in September and took sounds of the past and made them forward thinking again – no easy feat.

Of course their efforts have been gifted with the likes of DJ Mag and Mixmag giving the boys awards for Best Track (Awarded by DJ Mag for their track Glue) and Album of The Year (from Mixmag) and to top things off they’ve been invited back to the Essential Mix turntables for another two hour session.

Fans of the group will long remember their fantastic debut which was nominated for Essential Mix of the Year back in 2014, and although they’ve just missed the deadline to be considered for the award again in 2017, chances are they will appear on the 2018 list.

In keeping up with their more recent sound the mix is a lot deeper and darker than the first, focusing instead on melodic and synth-driven moments instead of the slamming house which filled their Essential Mix debut. Over the two hours you can expect to hear some of the tracks which influenced their album as the mix covers break-beat, dark Electro and melodic house cuts with tunes from longtime collaborator Hammer, Rival Consoles and Aphex Twin.
