Heldeep Records founder Oliver Heldens is known to release a Funk/Disco tune every now and then. His most recent track, ‘What The Funk‘ with Danny Shah has been making waves across the EDM scene. So much so, that Steve Aoki recently had the pleasure of releasing a remix via his own imprint Dim Mak.
The verses follow a similar pattern to that of the original. Danny Shah’s vocals, prominent as ever, play over the top of the original melody, reimagined through Steve Aoki’s signature Electro House synths. While the verse contains many elements from the original, the drop completely turns things on its head, as Steve gives the track an entirely new perspective. Distorted electro house synths and Bass House-inspired fills combine to give the track Steve Aoki’s signature sound.
Aoki, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, made his claim to fame with his “Punk Rock” attitude, champagne showers and plenty of cake. However, the 40-year-old reportedly may consider giving up “caking” his fans. While it is a signature part of the live experience that Steve delivers, it has landed him in hot water at times. However, regardless of his decision to end the tradition, Steve’s sets will never fail to entertain!
