After the success of Brooks and Martin Garrix‘s collaborationBoomerang‘, Brooks held a 40-minute masterclass at Dancefair 2017, revealing how the duo made the track. While ‘Boomerang’ has had great success in gaining support from DJ’s such as TiëstoLucas & SteveJulian Jordan and Mike Williams, the duo’s other track ‘Byte‘ is just as much a mainstage favourite as its successor.

Brooks engaged fans and contemporaries in a 40-minute masterclass where he covered everything from presets and VST’s used, samples, arrangement and mixing. While usual tips and tricks such as high/low-passing signals and level arrangement are mentioned, Brooks reveals a clever reverb trick that helps reduce muddiness and congestion in the mix, simply using just 2 FL Studio stock plugins.

Garrix, who collaborated with Brooks under his alter-ego GRX, also held a masterclass of his own during ADE. While he didn’t cover either of his Brooks collaborations, Garrix took fans through how he made ‘Pizza‘ and also went in depth to discuss his production process and how he makes his melodies. Garrix also emphasised that choice of DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) is irrelevant as long as producers are able to come out with excellent, high-quality music.
