DJ Mag opens vote for Top 100 Clubs 2018

DJ Mag‘s yearly club competition is always a hotly contested affair as voters from far and wide make their opinions heard across the vote, hoping their favourite venue can land a spot in the Top 100 rankings. With former Ibiza powerhouse Space taking the 2017 crown, all eyes now turn to the venues who may look to steal the former superclub’s crown in 2018, with Ibiza rivals including Pacha and Amnesia all in with a shout of stealing the title.

Here, We Rave You take a look at three of the fastest rising venues on the list, who stand every chance of becoming the new #1 with DJ Mag in 2018:

Papaya

Last year’s number #9, one of Papaya’s main attractions is the huge ‘after beach’ parties that take place throughout the entire festival season. We’re talking every day from 3pm to 8pm from late May to early September. Just a quick shimmy shimmy away from the sea, this open-air club is the perfect hot spot for lovers of warm, sunny Croatian climes mixed and blended in with some quality non-stop festival action. Glancing back to last year, Paul Kalkbrenner, MK, Marco Carola, Loco Dice and W&W were amongst the heady list of artists and DJs that lit up Zrce beach

Boothaus

Retaining its place as Germany’s number one nightclub outside of Berlin with a 15th placed finish last year, Bootshaus is the brainchild of promoters and DJs U Lee and Sascha — the pair behind the country’s top alternative clubbing night, Loonyland (which is also a key event in the Bootshaus schedule) — the venue combines an industrial feel with all the latest mod cons. The space breaks down into three rooms: The large, multi-level main room packs flamethrowers, robots and CO2 cannons, giving it a festival-like feel; meanwhile, room two (otherwise known as BLCKBX) offers a trendy club vibe with rows of LED-lit ceiling fans; and finally, the third room, DREHEREI, is a pitch black sweatbox, exclusively reserved for the grittiest of techno. Bookings in the past year alone have included Oliver Heldens, Diplo, DJ Snake, Paul Van Dyk, Speedy J and Nicole Moudaber, to name but a few.

Guaba

Guaba Beach Bar may today offers Cyprus’ foremost clubbing experience, bringing the likes of Top 100 DJs winner Martin Garrix, Dutch hand-putter-upper Fedde Le Grand and trance heavyweight Paul van Dyk to entertain 2,000-strong crowds on the sunny shores of the Mediterranean.

But what keeps Guaba so fresh year after year? Well, such as in Ibiza, the club is seasonal, and utilises the yearly refresh to make improvements and change the decorations. When the space relaunches on 30th April with its annual Opening Fiesta, it’ll be sporting some fancy new features. Along with a new DJ booth design, Guaba is currently installing a new, custom soundsystem and two new bars — one specialising in cocktails and one boasting a some playground-style swings to relax in.

Having hosted a special We Rave You residency in 2017, Guaba is ready to rise from #19 to #1 in 2018!

Which venue will be YOUR #1 this year? Head over to DJ Mag now to vote!
