Bigger Than Music: 3 musicians who’ve partnered with watch brands

Home Uncategorized Bigger Than Music: 3 musicians who’ve partnered with watch brands

Musicians partnering with corporations isn’t exactly a new thing, after all, the likes of Pepsi and Coca-Cola have long been inclined to join forces with artists for (usually very cheesy) advertisements. However, musicians partnering with watch companies isn’t something you hear too much about, as that honor is often reserved for sports stars and actors. So, when you do hear about some new collaboration between a wristwatch manufacturer and a famous artist, it makes it all the more intriguing to know about.

Lady Gaga + Tudor

Although many were initially surprised to hear about a collaboration between unconventional pop star Lady Gaga and nearly century-old watch brand Tudor, perhaps it’s simply one of those cases where opposites attract. Gaga will be a prominent brand ambassador in Tudor’s ‘Born to Dare’ advertising campaign, along with ex-soccer star David Beckham and Beauden Barret from the New Zealand rugby team. “Lady Gaga has achieved a level of fame and respect few entertainers ever have,” said Tudor in a press release. “When you try and think of a daring individual in today’s popular culture, it is hard to find anyone more fitting the description than Lady Gaga. Behind the glitter and glam, her provocative style and political statements, she is about total showmanship.”

Lang Lang + Hublot

Chinese-American sensation Lang Lang is one of the world’s most incredible pianists, with a style that is impossible to emulate. Swiss manufacturer Hublot apparently thought so too, as it made the decision to join forces with Lang Lang on a signature watch. Part of the Classic Fusion range, Lang Lang’s signature watch is a stunning piece of jewelry colored in deep black and rich gold, adorned with a few musical symbols like the treble clef and bass clef, so as to know this can be none other than a musician’s watch. It’s also possible to see the inner workings of the watch – a gorgeous testament to the craftsmanship that goes into the Swiss-made items. Finding one won’t be easy, but you might get lucky here when searching via an online watch market.

David Guetta + Tag Heuer

It turns out that Martin Garrix isn’t the only DJ to team up with Tag Heuer, as EDM superstar David Guetta is also a proud brand ambassador for the same watch company. Guetta’s signature watch is in the Formula 1 range, with a neon blue and black design and glow-in-the-dark numbers, when you need to check the time in the club, of course. Funnily enough, Garrix and Guetta recently collaborated on a new single called ‘So Far Away,’ although there’s no word on whether the song is about watches.
