Ever since his first releases, ‘Privilege’ and ‘Qwerty’, Protocol Recordings boss Nicky Romero has always displayed his knack for consistently releasing quality music. Protocol is responsible for some of EDM’s most iconic tracks, including Tommy Trash and Wax Motif‘s ‘HEX‘, ‘Warriors‘ with Volt & State and ‘Legacy‘ with Krewella. Now, celebrating his label’s 100th release, Romero has collaborated with fellow Dutchman, Spyder, to deliver his latest tantalising Progressive House hit, ‘PRTCL‘.

In an age where the music scene is oversaturated and inundated with new music, sometimes, the occasional throwback is often encouraged, hence Nicky Romero’s latest single. Yearning to bring back Protocol’s embryonic sound, ‘PRTCL’ is a classic House anthem in every way imaginable. Integrated with a modern twist, the label’s nostalgic funky, swingy sound is met with futuristic pluck synths, reverberant synth stabs and airtight bass to create an instant floor-filler.

In a statement made to Billboard, Romero explains his motivation behind his latest release:

“It feels like the industry is craving original sounding records more than ever and that’s what I wanted to achieve with this milestone release. It’s an amazing feeling to have reached 100 releases on my own label and I want to thank all the producers, every person who’s been involved behind the scenes and of course my fans. Here’s to the next 100!”
