2007 was an eventful year for Dutch EDM icon Tiësto. In addition to the release of his 3rd studio album, ‘Elements of Life‘, his esteemed ‘Club Life‘ radio show made its debut on Radio 538 in The Netherlands. While the album reached number one on the Belgian album chart as well on Billboard‘s Top Electronic Albums chart in the U.S, ‘Elements of Life’ also went on to receive a Grammy Award nomination, while Tiësto’s ‘Club Life’ radio show has since gone on to reach 563 episodes and counting. With today marking the 49th birthday of the Dutch legend, what better way to mark the occasion than by reliving this amazing episode.

Despite being the first episode of what has turned out to be an iconic radio show, the inaugural episode marked the legendary DJ’s transition from Trance to the commercial scene. Artists such as Ferry CorstenChris LakeCosmic Gate and Way Out West all featured on ‘Club Life 001’. In spite of a heavily Trance-inspired first episode, the show would go on to eventually incorporate more Electro House and other such commercial genres, while popular Trance anthems such as ‘Adagio For Strings‘ would slowly disappear from the weekly tracklist, signifying the Dutchman’s departure from the much-loved genre.

In more recent times, the Dutchman’s sound is unrecognisably different. With more recent projects such as his ‘Boomremix, Clublife Vol. 5 China and ‘Secrets‘ with KSHMR and VASSY, his appeal to the commercial audience has expanded further than ever, while his everlasting Trance fans continue to yearn for his return.

Take a stroll down memory lane with Tiësto’s very first episode of ‘Club Life’. Happy Birthday Tijs!
