2018 marks the 20th anniversary of Ultra Music Festival which over the years has earned a reputation for being one of the most prestigious and in-demand festivals around the world. The annual electronic music festival which takes places in Miami, Florida sees thousands of attendees travel from all corners of the globe to celebrate its weekend of the finest music from the industries biggest artist. But those heading to Miami this year are are in for something special as Ultra CEO Russell Faibisch has reiterated that the festival has something very big planned. In an interview with Magnetic Magazine the festival boss said:
“Yes, something very big is in the works! Every year we pride ourselves on delivering for our fans special unannounced performances and surprises. But for the big 20th Anniversary, we knew we had to deliver something huge. Something unique that can only be seen at Ultra. It is completely under wraps. The only thing I can say is to Expect The Unexpected.”
So what has Russell got under wraps? Many are speculating it could be the reunion of electronic music’s most iconic trio the Swedish House Mafia who of recent have stripped their Twitter account of all tweets and the three artists now following each other. Another rumour has been the potential of a headlining act from renowned duo Daft Punk to which Russell also said during the interview ‘We (Ultra) would love nothing more than to have the honour of them headlining our festival one day’.
For now, time will tell just what Russell Faibisch has under wraps for Ultra Music Festival, but if we are to expect the unexpected then this could be the talking point of electronic music all year and the future to come.
