2017 was an interesting year for Afrojack. experimenting with various sounds and genres, he displayed his versatility and excellent musical ability. As one of the core pioneers of Dutch house and one of the most widely-recognised DJ’s across the globe, the Dutchman decided to return to his roots and shift his focus towards his music. Now in 2018, Afrojack has announced his intention of experimenting with his new alias, in addition to his releases under his regular alias.
In a recent tweet, the 30-year-old revealed a new alias ‘DJ Afrojack‘, much to the surprise of many fans. He also confirmed that his better-known alias NLW is now in fact, ‘DJ Afrokjack’. Not to be confused with his main SoundCloud account of 1.57 million followers, DJ Afrojack currently stands at 12.7k followers, but is expected to grow dramatically.
Following a year-and-a-half absence from the account, Afrojack uploaded two new pieces of music. The first is a mashup containing music from RL Grime, Anki, Post Malone, Porter Robinson & Swedish House Mafia. Afrojack wrote the following in the description:
“Testing to see how it works w uploading edits n stuff, credits go to posty, anki, porter robinson and rl grime, i just glued it together.” [sic]
The second upload is in fact, an unfinished demo of his collaboration with Dillon Francis. The short clip is only 49 seconds, but both artists’ influence can easily be heard in the project. Take a listen below.
