Italian Nu Disco DJ/Producer FUNKYBEAT, a.k.a Riccardo Paone has delivered a stunning Disco remix of Anderblast‘s ‘Whale‘. Boasting a strong retro persona, Riccardo Paone brings his 70’s and 80’s vibe – giving Anderblast’s Techno tune a whole new perspective altogether. With releases on Nicky Romero‘s Protocol Recordings and Fedde Le Grand‘s Flamingo Recordings, the Italian producer is surely here to stay.
Paone’s remix begins with a tight, inside-slappy kickdrum, well-compressed claps, a tambourine and a synthesizer. A funky bass guitar and vocals gradually make their way into the mix thanks to a low-pass filter. Following a quick break/build up, the main elements re-enter the mix, the lead melody comes into play and vocal chops replace the main vocals. Authentic acoustic drum-kit hi-hats, which contribute to the track’s sumptuous 80’s vibe.
When asked about the influences behind his Disco-inspired sound, Paone answered the following:
“My musical influences are from the true and pure 70s/80s/90s disco. I have always listened to many artists like Jason Brown, The Whispers or Michael Jackson. My dad loves music as much as I do and he’s himself a musician so he was the first one to give me the best advice on who to listen to.”
