Calvin Harris, the king of electronic dance music by any financial measurement, has a new single ready for release this Thursday. Featuring PartyNextDoor, the new single is entitled ‘Nuh Ready Nuh Ready‘ which is slang for “not ready.”
The new single will be the first sonic entry in his new sound, as the Scottish hit-maker announced a departure from, and retirement of, his funk throwback sound. 2017 saw Adam Wiles embrace a 70s soul sound on Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, with the expectation that there would be a follow-up volume in the series. However, the new sound alienated fans and while the single ‘Feels‘ with Pharrell, Big Sean, and Katy Perry was a bona fide hit, the other singles did not match the success he experienced previously with the singles from Motion and 18 Months.
Although a teaser hasn’t been released, making the sound of the new single a mystery, Harris did advertise it with a creepy moving billboard, with a cartoon skull.
